Sydney to Cooma via Canberra

Sydney to Cooma - 400km
A gorgeous and relaxing drive with temperatures around 27 degrees

We picked up our hire car this morning and were given an upgrade to a Nissan X-Trail so we left the hustle and bustle of sydney and drove down firstly to Canberra and then onto the sleepy town of Cooma (Pop: 8000)

On the way it was interesting to note the change of scenerey from mainly greens to brown and yellow

We saw loads of kangaroos on the way but sadly most of them were roadkill !!

We stopped off in the capital city of Canberra to see Parliament House where the oz government does its business - most impressive building with beautifully manicured lawns - even on the roof

We thought we would make a dent in to tomorrows proposed drive by leaving Canberra and onwards for another hour or so where we came across a little town called Cooma.

Hicksville it certainly is! During the winter it looks like it is popular with skiers and snow boarders but as its autumn it was all but closed! It had a very similar feel to Aviemore

We stayed in the Greenleigh motel - hardly an inspriring choice but at least it was cheap - 30 quid for the night

onwards further south into Victoria tomorrow
