Our first encounter with a redback

I'm not sure what is more unlikely - me cleaning the windows or finding a redback spider but both happened today!!



I knocked the spider whislt cleaning the windows near the front door but luckily it didn't try to bite me - needless to say the spider and its eggs are no more!

This is what wikipedia has to say about the redback:

Redbacks are considered one of the most dangerous spiders in Australia. The Redback spider has a neurotoxic venom which is toxic to humans with bites causing severe pain.
